WINSLOW ART STUDIO, located on Bartlett Hill Road in Cambridge, Vermont, is the unique teaching studio of Karen and Jack Winslow, who offer atelier training to serious artists of all abilities. Classes and workshops in still life, figure/portrait, and outdoor landscape painting are held year round in the studio under natural north skylights, or in the surrounding area for plein air (outdoor) painting. Students work directly from models, still life arrangements and outdoors for landscape painting. The studio is wheelchair accessible.
Karen and Jack Winslow have been painting side by side since 1973, when they began studying oil painting with Frank Mason at the Art Students League of New York and in Frank's landscape painting workshops in Vermont. In 1979, they moved to Vermont and established the Winslow Art Studio. For the past 36 years, they have been producing and selling their paintings through various galleries and raising their 5 children. Although they paint a broad range of subject matter, their paintings are really about light and movement, and all of their paintings are from life (not photographs).
AMERICAN ARTIST magazine wrote a major feature about them with Jack's painting "Vermont Summer", on the cover of the February 1991 issue (pages 24-31 and 80-83).
If you are in the area, you are welcome to visit the studio or join in on classes or paint in our twice a month Open Figure/Portrait sessions. If you have any questions about the paintings or classes, please email or phone.
